….. Restructures Governance
The Out Of Home Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has re-elected Mr. Sola Akinsiku-led executive council to steer the leadership of the Association for the next two years at the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the OAAN Secretariat, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State on Thursday.
The elected executives include Mr. Sola Akinsiku, President; Mr. Omo Abunene; Vice President; Mr. Chinweuba Nwagu, Treasurer and Mr. Babs Fagade, Publicity Secretary.
The Association also used the opportunity to announce the restructuring of its governance structure as it will now have an Executive Secretary.

The AGM themed: ‘Redefining Professionalism in OOH, A Path to Nation Building’ had in attendance members of the Association across the country.
Speaking at the event, the incumbent President OAAN, Mr Sola Akinsiku, frpa appreciated the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, the council members and all members of the association for the support enjoyed during the administration.
He also spoke on the abolishment of the positions of the General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary in the Constitution, saying that the two positions will now be combined in the functions of the Executive Secretary.
“Our constitution provides for an Executive Secretary and that has effectively removed the need to have both the General Secretary and an Assistant General Secretary.”
Speaking on his re-election, Mr. Akinsiku said elections at any level are at the mercy of the electorate, adding that if executives are re-elected, it’s a demonstration of the confidence of the electorate in the individual or in the team.
On the plans of the re-elected council for the next two years, he said: ” We already know where we are on most of the issues; we are also familiar with the new challenges springing up, we are also familiar with the progress that we have made on some of the issues that are important to us as an association and we will continue to pursue those things that will enhance professionalism in our sector.
“We will continue to pursue the OAAN Charter, and I can tell you that we are nearer it now; by the Grace of God, very soon, there will be calls for celebration.”
The Managing Director of the Lagos Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) Prince Fatiu Akiolu, the Director of Department of Outdoor Advertising and Signage Abuja (DOAS), Mr Akanimo Udoh, and the General Manager of Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA), Mr. Toba were among the dignitaries at the opening session of the meeting. In their goodwill messages, they congratulated OAAN and commended the association for the giant stride in the industry.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sir Charles Chijide, The Immediate past President, Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, Vice president of
MIPAN, Mrs. Brenda Nwagwu, Representative of the DG ARCON, Madam Suzy Agbor and ADVAN President, Mr. Osamede Uwubanmwen.
