Virgin Atlantic has appointed Yann Stirton as the new Country Manager for Nigeria.
A statement by Darrin Thomas, Manager, International Marketing and Communications, Virgin Atlantic, said that Yann who had worked in various roles in the operations and commercial departments for the United Kingdom carrier, has been with the airline in the past 12 years.
The statement hinted that Yann began at the airline’s Contact Centre before progressing quickly to commercial roles in the Groups and Partnership team.
For the last few years, Yann has been in the airline’s Corporate Sales team, first as an Account Manager before taking the lead in Corporate Sales Development, leading strategy and working very closely with the airline’s Joint Venture partners.
The statement quoted Yann as expressing delight with the new appointment.
Yann said: “I am so thrilled to be taking on this role for Virgin Atlantic and experiencing all that our Nigerian route has to offer. I look forward to leading a dynamic team and supporting our partners and customers in a unique market.”
Also commenting, Liezl Gericke, Head of International, Virgin Atlantic, said he was delighted to have Yann leading the Nigerian market.
Gericke assured that Yann would bring incredible passion, energy, and a wealth of experience to the new role.
“I look forward to working closely with him and leading our team and business in Nigeria. As Yann steps into this new position, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Justin Bell, who has served the route as Airport and Country Manager for the last 10 years. Justin’s commitment and dedication to Lagos has been unwavering,” Gericke said.
Justin Bell moves to his next role as Country Manager Brazil, the latest addition to the Virgin Atlantic route network.
Virgin Atlantic operates its daily Lagos-London Heathrow on its A350 -1000.
