…Nigerians Urged To Take Advantage of UGBS Opportunity to Build Its Human Resources
The University of Ghana Business School, (UGBS), is in Nigeria to seek students for graduate programmes.
Speaking at a media parley in Lagos on Thursday, International Students Recruitment Officer for the university, Mr. Emmanuel Yaw Dankwa said their mission is to create awareness about the Business School in Nigeria especially what the students will benefit during and after graduation from the University.
He added that the School is focused on developing world-class human resources and capabilities to meet national development needs and global challenges through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination.

“UGBS’s programmes focus on developing students that aspire to be business leaders,” he added.
Listing the UGBS advantage further, Dankwa said students complete research projects which enables them to acquire critical conceptual and analytical skills.
“UGBS produces high-achieving and successful individuals in every sphere of management endeavour and has links and strategic partnerships with the business community.
“The university also increases number of foreign students and international affiliations with other schools,” he stated.
The courses available according to him include; Accounting, Finance; Marketing and Entrepreneurship; Operations and Management Information System; Organisation and Human Resource Management and Public Administration and Health Services Management.
“The programmes offered include, BSc. Administration; BA Administration; Master of Business Administration; Master of Public Administration; Master of ARTS; Master of Science; Executive Master of Business Administration; Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy.
“There is also one year Master Programmes in Marketing Strategy, Organizational Leadership and Governance and Public Sector Management and a two year Executive Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration.”
Aside these programmes, Dankwa disclosed further that the school’s executive education outfit, UGBS-Executive Development (UGBS-ED) offers executive education and tailored programmes to executive and senior management across various sectors.
“The UGBS-EDS also specializes in providing business development, business advisory and consulting to a wide range of enterprises.”
For faculty and staff, he explained that UGBS has qualified and experienced faculty and staff who are committed to carrying out research that is relevant to policy, covering a variety of areas.
In her remarks, the Consul General of Ghana Consulate, Samanta Gifty Bukari urged Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities offer by University of Ghana Business School because the university produces best graduates in all sectors of the economy.
On why the university was here to seek for students, Bukari said from history, the two countries have always work together and since the outcome is of benefit to the economy of the country, Nigeria should be the first to take advantage of it.
“Ghana takes Nigeria as a sister because one, economically, you are bigger and trade is a major relationship between Ghana and Nigeria. So, that’s what brings UGBS to Nigeria.
“We cannot be in isolation as countries, we have to work with one another in order to achieve great things otherwise, why Africa Continental Free Trade, Economic Community of West African States, Africa Union? We have to do more, we have to learn with one another. So I will say, UGBS is good and it is a must for us to support one another to train our human resources such that all will benefit, society, family and countries will benefit.
Training Human Resources means a lot to any university that is why it is important to make us more public and explain why we want to have Nigerian students.
The Minister Counsellor, Trade and Investment, Ghana, Mr. Nicholas Quansah reiterated the Consular General’s speech, adding that it is true that the human resources capital of any country is important for its development.
“You cannot depend on the country alone without the capacity of human resources. It is always good to bring on board experience persons to get best practice of human resource of our various countries.
“We must always look for external opportunities to improve capacities for the development of the country. Since we are all along this coast, it is only beneficial that we complement each other,” he said.
