…..As First Set Of Students Receives Certificate In Digital Literacy & Entrepreneurship Programme
The Vice- Chancellor, Trinity University, Lagos, Professor Clement Kolawole has reiterated the university’s commitment to produce independent and sound graduates that will make great impact in Nigeria and beyond.
He stated this during the Certification & Award Ceremony of the university’s first Set of Certificate Students in Digital Literacy & Entrepreneurship Programme held on Tuesday.
The VC added that the university is poised to produce manpower that will drive the socio-economic development of the country and the world. “Graduates that can impact their generation now and the future with skills and knowledge as well as character.

“So, as a university, we have a total package of an individual that is knowledgeable, skilful, that is morally upright. We are looking forward to always releasing new sets of graduates now and the nearest future.”
He explained: “We are just 6 years old, we have had three sets of graduates, and the 4th set will be graduating in March, 2026. We have started the 2025/ 2026 academic session and we are among few universities that run stable academic calendar.”
On the programmes offered by the university, Prof. Kolawole said that aside the 21 programmes offered, three other academic programmes is being added “and as we start the new session, we want the world to know that we intend to see to our goal of been the best.
“In addition to those three new programmes, we are also pursuing a programme that we haven’t before, Tourism and Hospitality. With all these programmes, in addition to the existing programmes, we are set to take on the world, and we want the world to know that we are here.
Speaking on the certification programme in digital literacy and entrepreneurship, Prof. Kolawole said it is a collaborative effort between Trinity University and Global Wissen Consult, made possible through the support of the Embassy of Sweden.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Global Wissen Consult and the Embassy of Sweden for this innovative initiative, which has provided our students with the opportunity to acquire digital literacy and entrepreneurship skills.
“Their contribution to our students’ development cannot be overstated. By exposing them to the latest digital tools and trends, they have not only enhanced their technical skills but also empowered them to navigate the complexities of the modern digital landscape. Moreover, this partnership has given our students a global perspective, connecting them to a wider community of digital innovators and entrepreneurs,” she explained.
The VC congratulated the graduating students for the successful completion of this certificate programme, adding that the achievement is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and perseverance. “As you move forward, I challenge you to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during this programme to make a meaningful impact in your respective fields.
“As we mark this significant milestone, it is fitting that we also hoist the flag of Sweden on our premises today. This symbolic act represents the strong partnership between Sweden and Trinity University, and we are proud to acknowledge the significant role that Sweden has played in shaping our academic and research endeavours.
“The flag of Sweden represents a nation known for its commitment to innovation, technological advancement, and sustainable development, values that align perfectly with our own institutional goals.”
He said further that: “By flying the Swedish flag today, we celebrate the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect that has brought us to this moment. It signifies the Embassy of Sweden’s commitment to promoting educational development and cultural exchange between Sweden and Nigeria.
“To our students, it serves as a reminder that the knowledge and skills you have acquired are part of a global movement towards innovation and progress.”
He used the opportunity to announce that the beginning of more collaborations, disclosing that as a university that offers programmes in Political Science and International Relations, the university is committed to fostering global partnerships and collaborations.
“In the days ahead, we shall be hoisting the flags of other countries that partner with us in various capacities, underscoring our global outlook and commitment to international best practices. This is a testament to our resolve to provide our students with a truly global education that prepares them for the complexities of an interconnected world.
“To Global Wissen Consult and the Embassy of Sweden, I would like to assure you that we value our partnership and appreciate the significant contribution you have made to our developmental strides. We are committed to sustaining this relationship and look forward to exploring more opportunities for collaboration.
Prof. Kolawole said that the name Trinity University gives the institution a great advantage because it is built on the rock of Jesus Christ. “We are guided by the principle of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are a Christian university per excellence, we are driven by Christian values and that’s why in every encounter with our students we expect them to be God fearing, responsible, hardworking and reliable, to have integrity and honour.
“We did not preach this, we live it in this university with our engagements with our students. That is why in our university, we have zero tolerance for cultism and its activities and we have zero tolerance for drug related matters.
We want to be different in all areas, in terms of the programme we run, in terms of the facilities that we provide because we have excellent staff strength, beautiful working environment, about 80 percent of our students live on campus, so that we can focus on producing completely independent and sound individuals that would make great impact.
In his remarks, Executive Chairman, Courier & Logistics Management Institute (CLMI), Prof. Simon Emeje gave enlightenment on one of the proposed programmes to be offered by the university, Courier, Logistics and Transport Management, stating that its one of the industry that has been so neglected that if been focus on will generate huge income for the country.
He commended the university’s management for giving approval for the programme and according to him it will go a long way to impact on the economy of Nigeria if well harnessed.
