…..As School Marks 27 years Anniversary
Starfield College, Fagba Lagos celebrated Cultural Day in grand style with the culture of Nigeria’s three major ethnic groups on display at the ceremony.
The annual event with the theme: ‘My Culture is Beautiful’ allowed students of the college to learn various aspects of the Nigerian culture, different foods and dressing.
The ceremony held at the college on Thursday, 10th October, 2025 also gave the school the opportunity to celebrate its 27 years anniversary.

Director of Studies, Mr. Chris Eigbe in his welcome speech reflected on the journey of the college, and thanked God for His abundant blessings upon the institution.
“It is through His grace that we have been able to build, nurture, and sustain a community dedicated to learning, growth, and service. As we look back over nearly three decades, we recognise that every achievement, every challenge overcome, and every moment of joy has been a testament to God’s faithfulness.”
He added that when the college began 27 years ago, it was with a vision, hope, and the determination to make a positive impact. “But without the guiding hand of God, our efforts would have faltered. Through periods of uncertainty, He provided us with strength and wisdom; through times of celebration, He filled our hearts with gratitude and humility.”
He added: “We are very proud of our achievement over the years and as we celebrate this milestone let us remember to seek His guidance for the years ahead. May we continue to uphold the values of compassion, integrity and excellence that distinguish our college.
“Let us pray that God will grant us the wisdom to adapt to changing times, the courage to face new challenges, and the unity to build an even greater future together.
“I invite you all to pause for a moment and reflect on the countless blessings we have received. From dedicated teachers and passionate students to the support of families and the wider community, we have been sustained by divine favour.
“Let us thank God for the talents He has bestowed upon each one of us, and for the opportunities we have been given to shape minds, touch hearts, and inspire futures,” he added.
Eigbe thanked the long serving staff who have been very true to their mission and vision over the years as each of them has made the school proud. “We are also very proud of you and are dedicated to ensuring your welfare and comfort now and in the future.
“You have grown from employees to the rank of shareholders. May God bless and protect you. To our other staff we ask again like Oliver Twist for your continued dedication to our vision and your support for the students that God has chosen us to counsel and develop.
“To our students and parents including those who have passed through the school over the years, we thank you for being part of our school history. We pray for your protection and safety. We want to assure that your trust in us is never misplaced.
“On behalf of everyone gathered here today, I offer our heartfelt thanks to God for His unfailing love and blessings.
May His presence continue to be our strength and our inspiration as we look forward to many more years of success, growth and service,” he stated.
The Principal, Mrs. Sarah Oyinloye said the school celebrates the day annually in a bid to teach the students the culture embedded in Nigeria and the benefits if they make it their way of life. “With this, let them remind themselves of where they are coming from and that their culture is typical and beautiful and no need to copy other cultures.
Oyinloye added that the event will expose them to local food instead of the junk they prefer because the food they reject at home are the food that is nutritious, that are good for their body. That is why when we organise cultural day we always try to bring in food for food exhibition.
The Principal said that culture is a way of educating the students, adding that when a child knows respect, he knows how to honour his parents or elders and that is when they can listen to their teachers that are elders and this can help them in the education.
She however urged parents to imbibe culture in their children and not to forget their culture, “they must not forget where they are coming from and they must not forget who they are so that they don’t copy wrongly.
The chairman of the planning committee, Mrs. Rosemary Anyaeji reiterated the importance of culture to the development of every child, adding that the school will always work to achieve and educate the students on the importance of this.
She urged parents on the need to teach their children their culture especially their local dialects because it is their identity.
