Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged corps members to demonstrate diligence and patriotism as they proceed to their various Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) across the state.
Sanwo-Olu gave the charge on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.
He advised them to leave indelible marks through their contributions in healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, beautification and social services.
The governor urged them to also contribute in other sectors that promoted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and community development.

“I believe that the objective of the orientation exercise has been achieved, and the training you received will positively shape your attitude during and after national service to deliver,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellent performance among corps members.
He stressed that dedication and innovation in service would continue to receive government’s attention and commendation.
Sanwo-Olu reminded the corps members that they are serving in an information-driven era and urged them to explore opportunities in digital technology, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship beyond their assigned workplaces.
“Take advantage of AI, venture into e-commerce, fashion, manufacturing, logistics, and other enterprises,” the governor advised.
He commended their enthusiasm for the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.
Sanwo-Olu urged corps members to take the post-camp training seriously, noting that mastering skills would not only empower them financially but also sustain their relevance in a rapidly changing global economy
Gov. Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, promised to put the NYSC in the forefront of its projects by instituting programmes that would benefit its members.
In her remarks, the Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Christina Salmwang, commended corps members for their discipline, enthusiasm and commitment during the Orientation Course.
Salmwang explained that corps members undergo diverse trainings including paramilitary drills, language classes, Man ‘O’ War, and entrepreneurship skills sessions.
She said that the trainings aim at building teamwork, discipline and self-reliance among participants.
“It is gratifying to note that these young patriots demonstrated commendable discipline, zeal and a high sense of responsibility during the three weeks,” she said.
The state coordinator urged corps members to approach their primary assignments with diligence, patriotism and respect for host communities.
She advised them to avoid night travel and always seek permission before embarking on journeys.
“I urge you to rise above tribal, religious and cultural differences, and to serve your fatherland with diligence. Respect your host communities, and uphold the integrity of the Scheme.
“The SAED initiative which you have been exposed to remains a vital pathway to self-employment and financial independence in today’s challenging economic environment,” she added.
The state coordinator expressed gratitude to Gov. Sanwo-Olu for the state’s continued support and partnership with the NYSC Scheme in Lagos.
She also thanked collaborating agencies and sponsors for contributing to the orientation camp’s success.
