It was a display of athletics prowess, sportsmanship and excellence as Starfield Schools, Lagos had its 11th biennial inter-house sports at the weekend.
The event held at Agege Stadium, Lagos had the school’s Early Years and College participating at the event.
Welcoming guests at the event, the Head of Starfield Schools, Mrs. Juliana Eigbe reminded participants that the essence of sports lies not only in victory but also in the values of team work, dedication and fair play.
She encouraged the students to give their best, compete with integrity and support their fellow team mates.

Urging guests to encourage participants, Mrs. Eigbe said: “Let us cheer on our participants, encourage their efforts, and celebrate their achievement, regardless of the outcome.
“To the students, may this day be filled with memorable moments, friendly rivalries, and a sense of pride in representing your respective houses,” she added.
The Director of Studies, Mr. Chris Eigbe in his speech said the event should serve to remind everyone of the power of team work and the joy of friendly competitions.
“Let today also remind our parents of the successes and great achievements which positive engagement with school can bring about.
“As we close the 11th Inter-house sport competitions of Starfield Schools, I want us to imbibe the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, camaraderie and fairness that has been displayed at the competition.
Congratulating participants for their hard work and dedication, Eigbe said as the school aim to return to the stage in two years for the Biennial Inter-house, they should keep striving for greatness and excellence, two values that the schools stand for both on and off the field.
The Principal, Starfield College, Mrs. Sarah Oyinloye in her remarks said aside the benefits embedded in sports which include determination, focus and excellence, the school aim to also teach her students team work as a tool in ensuring that they get to their destination.
Thanking the sport committee and staff who worked hard in ensuring smooth conduct of the sport activities and safety, Mrs. Oyinloye said: “As we conclude 11th edition of our inter-house sport, let us carry forward the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, resilience, team work and excellence.”
Oyinloye urged school owners to put in place sporting activities through Inter-house sports starting from indoor games and as time goes on introduce them to competitions outside the school which in turn will help them physically and mentally.
Earlier in her remarks, the Special Guest of honour, Mrs. Ogunsile Abosede, represented by Mrs. Titi Apatira commended the school for their efforts in organising the sports event which she said will help in the development of the children.
She urged the government to use the opportunity of sports activities to groom future sports icon for the country.
The Inter-house sports ended with White House emerging first, Blue House second and Red House 3rd for the Early Years events.
For the College, Blue House came first, Red House, second and Green House third.
