Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State recently matriculated 2, 351 students for the 2023/2024 academic session comprising 2,153 undergraduate and 198 postgraduate students.
In his welcome address during the ceremony which was the university 22nd matriculation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo said the university will be inducting the newly admitted undergraduates and postgraduate students after subscribing to the oath of allegiance to the university’s code of conduct.
He said as a leading leadership development institution in the world, Covenant University’s unique vision is to raise a new generation of leaders in all fields of human endeavour, who will redeem the battered image of the black race.
The VC added that God has continued to validate the vision with many infallible proofs. “Today, we are not only the most preferred university for candidates seeking quality and life applicable higher education in Africa but our graduates are also adjudged the most employable among all Nigerian universities.

“In the recently conducted 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the overall best two candidates chose Covenant University as their first choice and they are part of the matriculating students today.”
Prof. Adebayo said while Umeh Kamisysochukwu Nkechinyere with a JAMB score of 360 and the overall best has been admitted into our Chemical Engineering programme, Aguele Stephen Osezua with a score of 358 was admitted to study Computer Engineering.
He congratulated the matriculating students for their success in the university’s admission screening process and securing a place in the destiny moulding institution.
The Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo in his address advised the matriculating students to be disciplined and judiciously use their time in the course of their studies to achieve their set goals.
He enjoined them to make the most of their time as the days are evil, adding that they should not hang around people that don’t share their sense of mission.
“To all our matriculating students, you are in for the best time if you will choose to align, and I pray that none of you starting today will be shown the way out unceremoniously before the completion of your programme.
“Fasten your belt and get ready to work, because things always work here and may it work for you, all through your tenure of studentship here,” he said.
The Chancellor also admonished parents present at the ceremony to help in ensuring that their sons and daughters align with the training mode at Covenant University so they can be listed among the new generation of leaders that Covenant has been producing to date.
The Pro-Chancellor, Bishop David Abioye in his remarks urged the students to be focused as they begin the journey of academics in the university.
“It should be noted that the purpose of Covenant University goes beyond its certificate to students at graduation for this reason academic programmes in the institution are cladded in a customized life changing core values which aims at training each students to be self-efficient and self-sufficient upon graduation.
“I admonish you therefore to joyfully embrace these values as catalyst in the making of your destiny,” he said.
