…Says His OJAJA University Is Aimed At Grooming Youths, Celebrate Innovations
His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa, Oonirisa Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, has told youths in the country that the ‘japa syndrome’ they are all craving for now will not solve the challenges confronting them and the country but rather it will worsen the situation.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Brand Visibility in his Palace in ile-ife, Osun State on Tuesday, the Ooni said the way out is for the youths to believe in themselves and always be ready to give back to the society.
“The nugget for success is to believe in yourself, put it at the back of your mind that nobody is going to help you, then what are you going to give to the society, not what the society will give to you. Be selfless, have good mentorship that is very key.”
He however added that a lot needs to be done by everyone more especially the government on the issue of naira devaluation.
Oba Ogunwusi said the fact that the country base her economy on the dollar is affecting the nation drastically and that there is the need for change of orientation among Nigerians.
“I tell people why do we need dollars, why do we base our economy on dollars? We don’t need dollars, let everybody shut down to foreign goods and let’s see if we will not survive.
“So, the day our leaders start to look at themselves to the extent of the food they eat, we won’t need dollars and there will be natural effort on dollar to go down.
“We are not looking at the naira in a positive way, the day we start to look at it positively, the better for our nation,” he added.
Stating that he was always all out to help the youths develop, Oba Ogunwusi said: “I am a champion of the youths, I champion their cause, I breathe the youth. I do everything that has to do with the youth. So, for me, I don’t have any regret for that.
“I live for people every day of my life and I’m always ready to help the youth because they are the ones that will change the country’s narrative.
That has also made us to set up a university, the first traditional ruler that has a university in the history of Nigeria, it is not named after me, it is called OJAJA UNIVERSITY and what we do there is we celebrate innovation.”
Oba Ogunwusi said OJAJA University, Kwara State is a knowledge driven institution using the instrumentality of teaching, learning research and character development for nation building.
