The Lagos Council of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has elected new executives at the state congress held weekend.
The congress held at Fitjoy Event Centre, Agege, Lagos also had the inauguration of the new Executives and in attendance, President of NAPPS, Chief Yomi Otubela; National Secretary, Comrade Ajibade Augustine and Member of National BOT, Otunba Safiriyu Ganiyu.
In the election under the supervision of a three-man electoral committee, Mr. Bodunde Samuel emerged the President with 42 votes; Mrs. Yetunde Balogun emerged Vice-President with 38 votes, Mr. Yussuf Ibrahim emerged Secretary with 44 votes, Mr.Olawale Cardoso elected the Treasurer with 36 votes and Mr. Adebisi Olabisi with 33 votes emerged the Financial Secretary.
A total of 14 chapters across the state voted at the congress.

In his remarks, BOT member, Otunba Safiriyu Ganiyu affirmed that NAPPS Nigeria is the umbrella body for all registered private schools in Nigeria, under the leadership of the National President, Chief Otubela, and BOT Chairman, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kundak, as enshrined in the CAC-registered 2023 constitution.
He restated the recent resolutions at the recent international conference in Calabar, NICE 2024, where members voted to remove some names from the BOT and add new ones. “We also agreed to stop illegal factions and affirm that we have only one BOT, one NEC, one ZEC, and one NAPPS.
“Hence, I must strongly advise against any chapter resorting to using private accounts to manage association funds. This is not only unauthorized but also poses significant risks to the chapter and its members.
“Instead, I urge all chapters to revert to using their designated association accounts and to fill out the loyalty form, affirming their commitment to the legitimate NAPPS organization.”
He continued: “Let me be clear: any chapter that fails to comply with this directive will be held responsible for their actions. We cannot stress enough the importance of adhering to our organization’s rules and regulations.
“I encourage all chapters to prioritize transparency, accountability, and loyalty to NAPPS. Together, we can ensure the continued growth and success of our organization,” he added.
Urging members of the Lagos State Council to vote with integrity following the approved 2023 constitution, he advised all in the state to work together to restore sanity and progress to our the association.

He commended the National President, BOT Chairman and Southwest Executives for their tireless efforts in restoring NAPPS’ lost glory.
In his address, the National President, NAPPS, Otunba Yomi Otubela disclosed that the congress came as a result of the state exco refusal to follow the rules and regulations that bind the association.
“I am therefore appealing to the new executives who emerged today to ensure they are always on the side of the law and work for the improvement of the association.”
Chief Otubela explained further the call for Congress and then election of new members was one of the move by NAPPS NEC to sensitize, sanitize and ensuring that the association is strong, reliable and continue to respond to the yearning of members of the association.
He pleaded with all chapters in the state to join hands together with the new excos and ensure that NAPPS is working for the improvement of education both at the state and the national level.
“I encourage you that what takes place today is for the growth of education in Nigeria, improvement of Nigerian child and it is to make sure that we have a true national conference.
“The truth is that whatever success or advocacies that we may champion is going to affect every school, so don’t let us entertain any fear, don’t let us be indifferent or neutral when issues that will affects the national development or will affect next generation is being discussed,” he advised.
In his acceptance speech, the President, Mr. Bodunde promised that the new exco will work with a six point agenda which include Transparency and Accountability; Government and School interaction; Capacity Building; Protection of the Association right; Promote one NAPPS and To promote the image of NAPPS.
He added that with these points they will achieve their goals therefore called on all members to support them as they have accept the various positions to serve the association with dedication and will for improvement of the National body.
