Chairman, Fabricare Professionals and Drycleaners Association (FPDA), Mr. Ẹni-Ibukun Adebayo has reiterated the Association’s commitment to professionalism, standards and practice as it is set to change the narrative of the profession in Nigeria.
He stated this during the FPDA inaugural induction ceremony held at the LG Training Academy, Victoria Island, Lagos on Tuesday.
According to him, the ceremony marked the birth of a new order in the industry, adding that it is a movement that recognizes that excellence in fabric care is not a coincidence, but a calling. Laundry is not a hustle, it is a profession and certainly not a competition, but a collaboration.
He stated further that FPDA members are not just dry cleaners but custodian of dignity, they preserve quality and are engineers of confidence hence the need to develop standards, regulations and let it not just be an all comers affair in a bid to improve the fabric care business.

“Our aim is to raise the professional standard of everybody because no matter how big they have become, there is still another level that they can still attain and for those that are still struggling, it is our job to raise everybody because the moment the world changes that perception about us, then our aim is really been achieved.”
Adebayo who is the CEO of CleanAce Drycleaners & Launderers also added that players in the industry are not just entrepreneurs but a set of people with values and passion for excellence. “FPDA stands today as a platform of identity, a community of accountability and a means for growth.
“We are committed to certain standards, developing skills, embracing innovation and defending professionalism in this industry that serves every sector.
“As a registered and approved group of Fabricare and Professional Dry Cleaners, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of quality, professionalism, and cleanliness in all our endeavors. Our association serves as a guiding light, providing a working code of rules and regulations to ensure the success and prosperity of our members.”
He however stressed the importance of government intervention as the Association is striving to improve the fabric care industry in Nigeria, saying members of the Association are open to loan in form of intervention from the government.
“We at the FPDA are ready to partner with government and we will give them the right code to restructure this industry,” he said.
Congratulating the new inductees whom are from different states across Nigeria, the Chairman urged them to stand for professionalism in line with the vision and mission of the Association.
He said the challenge before FPDA was how to bring everyone together in the industry either big or small and now that it has happened, it is important for members to work in tandem with the regulations of the Association.
He also thanked the founding members of FPDA for believing in a new order, adding that their selflessness has led to the Association counting hundreds today as members and hope to increase in number of professionals.
The National Secretary, Mr. Akan Davies explaining to the new inductees what is expected of them said the Code of Practice of the Association is intended to set clear standards for ethical, professional, and customer-focused services and to protect the interests of FPDA members and promote industry-wide excellence.
He highlighted the code of practice to include, professional standards; customer care; fabric care and handling; safeguarding customer property; pricing and billing; ethical conduct; compliance with laws and regulations; safeguarding member interests; sustainability and environmental stewardship; marketing and advertising ethics and enforcement and disciplinary action.
He urged them to be dedicated to fostering unity, progress, and excellence within the industry.
Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, CEO Discount Drycleaners and Vice-Chairman of the Association in her remarks told new inductees to be upright in their endeavours.
She said FPDA was set up to ensure that everyone in the industry works together, collaborate, help each other and also make sure that standards are maintained within the industry by all members.
Administering oath at the induction ceremony, Barrister Olaniran Obele of LiberteVie Law Practice, Lagos disclosed that the fabric care industry is the 5th largest employer of labour in the US, adding that though Nigeria does not have data on the sector yet but with the dedication of members to the development of the industry, it will influence policies that will boost the business.
Representative of LG Electronics Nigeria Limited, a major sponsor of the event, Mr. Samuel Odenusi assured the Association of continue support from the organisation.
He thanked them for the collaboration since the organisation started in Nigeria in 2019.
A total of 82 members were inducted at the ceremony.
