GreenPower Overseas Limited, has launched IoT-based “Pay as You Go” solar generators in the two metropolitan towns in Ekiti state, Ado and Igbara-odo Ekiti as part of measures to combat erratic power supply in Nigeria, a leading solar power system integrator.
Engr. Bamidele Faparusi , the company’s Managing Director, while speaking at the launch in Ado-Ekiti recently, noted that the innovative system would allow power users to purchase electricity generated by the solar generator by using their mobile phones which make it easy and convenient for them to access clean energy.
He said the Pay as You Go system is designed to make solar power more accessible to the rural dwellers that often rely on expensive and polluting fossil fuels for their energy needs.
Faparusi, who is also a former member of the House of Representatives, noted that apart from the Pay as You Go system providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative, it also provides a more reliable source of electricity for its customers.

He said the pilot launch of the Pay as You Go system has been met with positive feedback from customers, who appreciate the convenience and reliability it provides.
The Managing Director announced that his company would also expand the program to other parts of Nigeria in the coming months to provide more people with access to clean and sustainable energy.
He explained that the move by GreenPower is a major step forward in bringing clean and renewable energy to people in Nigeria and also serves as a model for other countries working to improve access to sustainable energy sources.
