The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) is set to hold the 3rd edition of Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA) on August 7th and 8th, 2024 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja in Lagos.
NEMCEA is a strategic Media content event which has been holding annually since its introduction in 2022, to bring together global stakeholders in the Media Industry within and outside Nigeria to buy, sell, collaborate, aggregate and exchange ideas.
Speaking at a press briefing to announce the event in Lagos, the President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin said NEMCEA in its third year has become an enviable brand that has come to stay as industry calendar as well as Nigeria’s Number one market place for the discovery and exchange of TV, Radio and Electronic Media Content.
According to him; NEMCEA will help put Lagos, the host city, where the government wants it to be at par with the other great film festival cities of the world, where people at home and abroad can come to find expertise and resources for electronic media content.

“This third edition promises to be top notch in terms of quality of participation across all stakeholders in Nigeria and in Africa,” he added.
Omirin disclosed further that the theme of the event: ‘Content Production and Evolving Technologies, a Panacea for growth in the Creative Economy has been carefully curated by their experts to look at issues that are currently in the faces of all stakeholders in the industry.
“We can’t but speak to the emerging technologies as it is expected to impact on content production and the creative economy of the country.
“Let me also state here that we have outlined and resourced the best of best from within and outside the industry in terms of resource persons/facilitators that will be doing justice to the central theme and other several themes.”
This, according to him, is with a view to unlocking potentials and opening the eyes of participants to opportunities and the palpable negatives from the emerging technologies in content production with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR), among others as part of the trends that can’t be ignore today.
“The creative economy is a constantly evolving landscape, and emerging technologies are playing an increasingly important role in shaping how content is produced distributed, consumed and ultimately shared today,” he added.
Unveiling programmes for NEMCEA, the Project Director of EMCOAN, Mr. Chinedu Ugwu in his address said the event is not only a strategic Media content only but also to bring to fore issues and perspectives bordering on the media industry in Nigeria in particular and across Africa as a whole.
He said that the 2-day event in its 3rd edition having been launched in 2022, remains the biggest for the electronic media content and film industry in Nigeria.
He added that participation is open to all broadcast content producers and other stakeholders across media, not just Television but Radio, Online and Movie makers among others.
“Furthermore exhibitors as well as content aggregators from across Africa, Europe and America are welcome to this mega event.
“NEMCEA has three major components which include the Conference, where we have an array of seasoned industry professionals as speakers as well as panel discussants; Content/Exhibitions, which affords content aggregators and producers the opportunity to interact, network and trade.
Television stations and online channels also have the opportunity of meeting face to face with content owners to do business.
“Also, the Awards, this is an evening for relaxation and fun during which contents that have entered various categories of awards are rewarded.”
He used the opportunity to call for entries for television, radio and online content that are produced, broadcast or publicly exhibited till April 30th, 2024 from interested persons to log on to www,nemcea.com/awards to fill the submission forms, adding that the call for entries for the 2024 Awards is still open till July 15th, 2024.
The Project Director also called on content producers who are yet to register for the event to visit www.nemcea.net to register to participate.
Highlighting some programmes for the event, Ugwu said the opening ceremony of the event is expected to be graced by the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris as special guest of honour and in addition, industry partners to NEMCEA event such as Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and Nigeria Television Authority, among others.
NEMCEA is put together by the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN), a professional body of Chief Executive Officers (CEO), who are the owners of over 70 percent of content/programmes on TV (cable and terrestrials) Radio and good percentage of those online today.
