Over 5000 participants were at this year’s annual Total School Support Seminar and Exhibition, (TOSSE), organized by Edumark Consult Lagos.
The event which is in its 15th edition was held at the Ten Degrees Event Centre, Oregun, Lagos at the weekend and was themed: ‘Transforming Education Across Borders’ with participants cutting across different areas in the education sector.
Welcoming participants, the Principal Consultant, Mrs. Yinka Ogunde said the aim of TOSSE this year was to prepare the education sector for the future especially now that education is no longer localized but goes beyond the country.
“The reality is that we all need to change within the sector, the rules of yesterday isn’t applicable today. So how do we expand the thoughts of the people? We can do that by helping them to see that education has gone beyond borders, it cut across countries.

“Different topics will be discussed today, for technology we are already talking about AI and all those kinds of technologies and today we will be talking a lot about technology.
“For example, it is at TOSSE this year I am seeing a robot fully in operation at such close quarters and a lot of the school owners are quite excited about that kind of thing.
“So for us, it has been this kind of community, bringing together and giving everyone an opportunity to learn, to improve, to become better, because you can’t give what you don’t have.
Also there is a seminar for leaders, because if a leader is not growing, he doesn’t even understand all the needs to change.”
Education is certainly across boundaries, so we need people to be able to think of all these options; because if you don’t raise the mindset of people, I have discovered that they can’t see positive things. It’s about making them to see vision,” she added.
“These are the people we have saddled with the task of raising future generations of Nigerians. And I have discovered that if you don’t expand their minds, if you don’t expand their thoughts, if you don’t open them up to possibilities and opportunities, they remain blank and I think that is what TOSSE is trying to do.
“That is why this year is a unique one, we introduced TOSSElead because we know the importance of leadership in the education sector, in fact any sector.
Thanking delegates for their attendance over the year, Ogunde said looking back at the past 15 years and reviewing the things that have sustained TOSSE, she realized that their consistent support is the key in the aspect of attendance, their encouragement and feedback.
“We are delighted that you are here today for this special edition of TOSSE, I urged you to take advantage of TOSSE 2023 and become better, greater and more dynamic version of yourself.
The special guest, Dr. Gbolahan Elias, SAN, in his remarks commended organiser of TOSSE for what they have been able to do for the education sector over the years.
He urged participants to take advantage of what TOSSE has to offer in order to help them in the school business.
Stating that education is the key to every aspect of an individual life, Dr. Elias advised school owners to always train their staff from time to meet up in the new trends in the sector.
For a better education sector in the country he advised for a good regulation and training at all times.
Speaking on ‘Essential Qualities of a Great Team Leader’ facilitators which include Mr. Suleiman Shaibu; Ifejola Adeyemi and Pastor Bisi Akande said leadership is a capacity to have an effect on a character or behavior hence it is important for all in the leadership role to have what it takes to make people do what they should and as well enjoy it.
They urged school owners to be intentional in all what they do and should always set examples for staff to follow because if they did not take intentional steps they may not be able to achieve what they desire.
