Arik Air has been honoured with the award of the ‘Labour Friendly Airline of the Year 2024’ by the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), an amalgam of the four existing trade unions in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
A statement by Mr. Adebanji Ola, Public Relations and Communications Manager, Arik Air, said that the award was presented to the airline by Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Kana had represented Mr. Festus Keyamo, the ministry’s minister at the 11th edition of the Aviation Workers Week held in Abuja.
Receiving the award on behalf of Arik Air, was Engr. Mudi Muhammad, Chairman of National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Arik Air chapter, who represented Capt. Roy Ilegbodu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the airline.

Mudi lauded JCNC for finding Arik Air deserving of such an award and promised that the management would continue to build a more lasting relationship with the workers and unions.
Speaking on the award, Ilegbodu expressed delight with the recognition.
He expressed that the receivership team had always prioritised the welfare of Arik Air workers since taking over in 2017.
This is the second time Arik Air would be honoured by the JCNC.
