The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has concluded plans to hold its 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Congress in Abuja from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd September 2023.
It holds at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja with the theme “50 years young, Ready for more”.
The Hon. Min. for Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris as the Special Guest of Honour as well as other notable government dignitaries will be at its 50th Anniversary AGM/Gala.
The Association revealed in a statement signed by its publicity Secretary, Temitope Jemerigbe that it will be paying a courtesy visit to the Presidency as part of the activities of the 50th Anniversary AGM. The visit will be an avenue to discuss the growth and impact of the communication industry to the nation and opportunities that can be harnessed to strategically position the industry.
The President of the Association, Steve Babaeko stated that this year AGM is very special because it’s our 50th anniversary and it’s been a journey with many achievements and milestones to celebrate with lots of great campaigns developed over the years.
“The association has grown in leaps and bounds with so many great advertising veterans that has contributed to the intellectual and socio-economic growth of the industry.
“This year 50th Anniversary AGM is a with a difference because it’s all about celebrating the breakthrough of the last 50 years while driving harder for more records to break in the next 50 years. is a platform to actively engage in intellectual and critical discourse on the opportunities that can be harnessed in improving the business and practice of Advertising in Nigeria and advocate unconventional solutions in rebuilding and rebranding the industry, ” he explained.
The Chairman of the Events Planning Committee, Doyin Adewumi stated that the Association has come to a decision to invite leading experts in their fields to lead the discourse on the theme. He further stated that the impact of the discourse will be beneficial to delegates and members of the Association.
The association has invited experts in different field to discuss a relevant topic titled “African Initiative to the World”. The experts are Prof. Mustapha Akinwunmi (Senior Researcher at Center for International Policy Studies at Foldham University), Mr. John Ugbe (CEO, Multichoice) as speakers. The panelists include, Ms. Bolanle Austen-Peters, (Founders & Artistic Director, BAP Productions), Mr. Bayo Omoboriowo, (Founder, The Kreative Village) Mrs. Nnenna Onyewuchi, (Co-Founder/Chief Growth, Halo), Mr. Jay Chukwuemeka, COO, (Imaginarium, Marketing Communications).
“To make the day very special, we will be launching a Unity Song co-produced by Colbams Asuquo and the Association to foster togetherness, Oneness, peace and harmony in the nation, “Adewumi stated.
The Director, AAAN, Kemi Fabusoro added that in recognition of meritorious service, Past President will be honoured and given meritorious awards. Also, young practitioners who have showed exceptional leadership will also be recognised at the AGM/Congress.
In line with the association’s commitment towards capability building and to kick off the activities of the AGM, a career fair will also be holding at the National Open University, Abuja.
The Association’s AGM is always a major event in the nation’s marketing communications calendar, and it always attracts overwhelming local and foreign coverage.
This year’s AGM promises to be engaging, memorable and will clearly impact positively on the delegates and the industry at large.
