…..Engages ILO Representative On SDG 8
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, on Monday, 21st July 2025, commenced a landmark strategic visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, signaling LASU’s growing stature as a globally engaged institution.
The visit underscores the University’s commitment to internationalisation, partnerships, and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Accompanied by US-based LASU alumnus and UN SDG ambassador, Mr. Kehinde Adebiyi, Prof. Olatunji-Bello held a sideline meeting with Ms Cynthia Samuel-Olonjuwon, Special Representative of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to the United Nations.

The high-level engagement focused on shared priorities such as SDG 8: ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’, and explored avenues for collaboration that align academic advancement with global socio-economic development.
Ms Samuel-Olonjuwon lauded LASU’s leadership in fostering inclusive education, promoting decent work values within academia, and producing globally competitive graduates.
She further expressed enthusiasm for potential partnerships with LASU that would leverage research, innovation, and capacity building to tackle both local and global challenges.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged Mr. Kehinde Adebiyi’s impactful contributions as an alumnus and praised his exemplary representation of LASU on the international stage.
She emphasized that the presence and achievements of LASU graduates in influential global institutions affirm the University’s status as a world-class centre of learning and leadership.
This engagement marks the beginning of a series of strategic dialogues scheduled during the Vice-Chancellor’s visit, all aimed at deepening LASU’s international visibility and impact.
